Ashwin continues to top Test rankings for all-rounders
i) Ravichandran Ashwin is the lone Indian to feature in the top 10 of the latest Reliance ICC
Test Player Rankings as he continues to lead the way in the all-rounders list.
ii) South Africa’s Vernon Philander is second in the Reliance ICC Test Player Rankings for All-rounders behind Ashwin, while Bangaldesh’s Shakib Al Hasan is placed third.
iii) Pakistan batsmen Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali have all improved their rankings in the latest Reliance ICC Test Player Rankings, which were released on Tuesday.
iv) Younis gained five places and 101 ratings points, and is now just three ratings points behind South Africa’s fifth-ranked Hashim Amla.

Delhi has become the world’s second most populous city in 2014, as per the World Urbanisation Prospects report published by the UN yesterday. Population in Delhi jumped more than 100% since 1990 to nearly 25 million now. India’s economy is now the 10th biggest economy in the world in terms of gross domestic product (GDP), according to the latest report published by the World Bank. Indian economy grew at an average annual rate of just over 6% from 1980 to 2010. However India remains the poorest country among the G20, with per capita income at USD 1,499 compared to China’s USD 6,807.

India’s growth has been largely driven by the services sector which has more than 50% weight in overall economic output. The agricultural, manufacturing and the industrial sectors have slowed down recently due to lower investment and global slowdown leading to decade low GDP growth of 4.5% in the previous financial year.
